The problem

As remote and hybrid work have blurred the boundary between office and home, attackers increasingly exploit poorly secured home routers, smart speakers, cameras and other IoT devices to pivot into corporate systems. Many employees assume their broadband provider’s defaults are “good enough”, leaving weak passwords, outdated firmware and open services that widen an organisation’s attack surface without IT ever seeing the risk.

Beyond the technical gaps, most awareness efforts don’t translate into changed behaviour at home, where family devices and guest networks add complexity and decision fatigue. Security can feel abstract, instructions are fragmented, and there’s little social reinforcement to keep settings hardened over time or to help colleagues spread good practice in their communities.

The solution

NetSentry combines crisp, role-relevant micro-learning with a companion scanner app that audits home networks, flags misconfigurations, explains the risk in plain English and provides one-tap fixes or step-by-step guides. Built-in prompts turn staff into advocates—sharing checklists with family and friends—while badges, reminders and anonymised benchmarks keep protections current and nudge a lasting security culture beyond the office.
